Description

Enjoy a day trip to Valle Nevado in the Andes Mountain Range (Cordillera de las Andes). Located 30 miles (60 km) from Santiago, along a winding road with about 40 curves, the area is home to wonderful mountain scenery. You will see also Farellones, one of the other ski centers, and take in views of 8,850-foot (2,700-meter) summits covered in snow. A guide accompanies you to provide information about the area.

Your tour starts with pickup from centrally located hotels in Santiago; meet your guide and board the vehicle for the drive into the mountains, ascending the Andes along a sinuous road.

During the drive, stop first at Farellones, a ski area in the central zone where you can admire peaks that reach 2,700 meters in altitude. In the winter, they're all covered in snow, offering incredible scenery. Then visit another popular ski center called El Colorado.

Continue the ascent for about 20 more curves to finally reach Valle Nevado, a ski resort located at an elevation of 9,842 feet (3,000 meters). During winter, the area hosts one of the most important international snowboarding competitions of the year. You have time here to enjoy the scenery and have lunch (own expense). In the early evening, head back to Santiago for hotel drop-off.
