Description

This is for sure one of the most popular places to visit around Santiago. El Yeso Reservoir is an impressive human-made lake located deep down in the Andes mountain range. Its interest lies in the color of its water and the surrounding natural lakes, where high summits guard several valleys crafted by millennial glaciers.

We wanted to spice this activity up a bit more, so we added a bonus tour: Los Patos lagoon. This short trekking leads to a hidden little lagoon. Next to the Argentinean border, some volcanoes and fauna surround this mystic place.

Due the location of the Reservoir, we’ll pick you up early in the morning. Around 7:00 am we’ll be knocking at your door. After all the tourists are inside the vehicle, we’ll head towards the Cajón Del Maipo, while the Team is introduced and some important information (weather, times, security, etc.) is provided.

After 2 hours of travel, we’ll approach our first stop: El Yeso Reservoir. With some mountains and turquoise water as background, we’ll enjoy a mid-morning snack and take some photos of the damp, the lake and some other interesting things present there. 30 minutes is enough time to enjoy and breath fresh mountain air, so we’ll get back to our vehicle and go towards the start of our trekking to Los Patos Lagoon.

The point where we will start our trekking is quite special: high mountains, mineral hot springs, some glaciers and valleys are the protagonists in the middle of one of the largest mountain ranges in the world. Los Patos lagoon is 90 minutes away, hidden from people, providing life to its surroundings. Once we get to the lagoon, we’ll have our lunch time while we talk about the zone, flora, fauna and some special facts about it.

About 60 minutes later we’ll start our walk back to the van, that will carry us back to Santiago.
