Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced the opening of its first Hyatt hotel in Santiago, Chile, marking a major milestone in the company's global expansion into Latin America and the Caribbean. This was announced today at a press conference at the hotel's headquarters in San Francisco, California, USA. The first hotel of its kind in the largest city in South America was built in Santo Domingo, a city of more than 2.5 million inhabitants in northern Chile. On the occasion of the start of construction, the Hyatts Hotel San Diego - San Juan - Santiago (HST) will be officially announced on Wednesday, March 1, 2017.

It joins the existing Hyatt Centric Guatemala City (HST), which opened in 2017, and Hyatts Centrics Montevideo, Uruguay, which opened in 2016. It joins its sister hotels in Guatemala and Honduras, as well as its first hotel in the Caribbean.
